EV Market Share: Austria

In September 2026, the automotive market in Austria recorded a total of 28,968 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 33.6% of the market share. This represents a volume of 9,723 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 13.5 percentage points(from 20.1% in 2025-08).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 10.3% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 43.9% of all new car sales in Austria for this period.
