EV Market Share: Austria

In January 2026, the automotive market in Austria recorded a total of 22,929 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 20.5% of the market share. This represents a volume of 4,702 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 0.9 percentage points (from 19.7% in 2024-12).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 11.9% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 32.4% of all new car sales in Austria for this period.
