EV Market Share: Hungary

In September 2026, the automotive market in Hungary recorded a total of 12,488 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 9.8% of the market share. This represents a volume of 1,218 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has declined by 0.9 percentage points(from 10.6% in 2025-08).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 11.3% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 21.1% of all new car sales in Hungary for this period.
