EV Market Share: Hungary

In March 2026, the automotive market in Hungary recorded a total of 17,443 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 8.9% of the market share. This represents a volume of 1,557 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 0.2 percentage points (from 8.8% in 2025-03).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 5.9% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 14.8% of all new car sales in Hungary for this period.
