EV Market Share: Hungary

In January 2026, the automotive market in Hungary recorded a total of 8,287 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 9.4% of the market share. This represents a volume of 780 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 3.1 percentage points (from 6.3% in 2024-12).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 7.7% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 17.1% of all new car sales in Hungary for this period.
