EV Market Share: France

In April 2026, the automotive market in France recorded a total of 222,920 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 16.4% of the market share. This represents a volume of 36,542 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 5.6 percentage points (from 10.7% in 2025-04).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 3.8% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 20.2% of all new car sales in France for this period.
