EV Market Share: France

In August 2026, the automotive market in France recorded a total of 141,213 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 25.9% of the market share. This represents a volume of 36,594 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 14.5 percentage points (from 11.4% in 2025-08).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 4.3% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 30.2% of all new car sales in France for this period.
