EV Market Share: France

In September 2026, the automotive market in France recorded a total of 159,806 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 41.1% of the market share. This represents a volume of 65,639 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 19.0 percentage points(from 22.1% in 2025-09).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 6.4% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 47.5% of all new car sales in France for this period.
