EV Market Share: Portugal

In September 2026, the automotive market in Portugal recorded a total of 19,589 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 47.7% of the market share. This represents a volume of 9,338 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 24.0 percentage points(from 23.7% in 2025-08).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 15.4% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 63.1% of all new car sales in Portugal for this period.
