EV Market Share: Portugal

In January 2026, the automotive market in Portugal recorded a total of 16,839 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 25.8% of the market share. This represents a volume of 4,341 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 0.3 percentage points (from 25.5% in 2024-12).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 14.3% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 40.1% of all new car sales in Portugal for this period.
