EV Market Share: Portugal

In March 2026, the automotive market in Portugal recorded a total of 26,679 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 22.7% of the market share. This represents a volume of 6,063 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 2.5 percentage points (from 20.2% in 2025-03).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 13.6% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 36.3% of all new car sales in Portugal for this period.
