EV Market Share: Italy

In March 2026, the automotive market in Italy recorded a total of 185,257 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 8.7% of the market share. This represents a volume of 16,121 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has declined by 5.6 percentage points (from 14.3% in 2024-08).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 8.5% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 17.2% of all new car sales in Italy for this period.
