EV Market Share: Italy

In January 2026, the automotive market in Italy recorded a total of 141,993 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 6.6% of the market share. This represents a volume of 9,423 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 3.2 percentage points (from 3.4% in 2024-07).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 8.2% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 14.8% of all new car sales in Italy for this period.
