EV Market Share: Romania

In March 2026, the automotive market in Romania recorded a total of 10,383 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 6.5% of the market share. This represents a volume of 679 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 3.8 percentage points (from 2.8% in 2025-03).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 57.9% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 64.5% of all new car sales in Romania for this period.
