EV Market Share: Romania

In January 2026, the automotive market in Romania recorded a total of 7,927 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 12.3% of the market share. This represents a volume of 974 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 2.4 percentage points (from 9.9% in 2024-12).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 58.6% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 70.8% of all new car sales in Romania for this period.
