EV Market Share: Sweden

In August 2026, the automotive market in Sweden recorded a total of 23,334 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 43.4% of the market share. This represents a volume of 10,118 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 10.7 percentage points (from 32.6% in 2025-08).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 21.6% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 64.9% of all new car sales in Sweden for this period.
