EV Market Share: Ireland

In January 2026, the automotive market in Ireland recorded a total of 34,542 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 21.1% of the market share. This represents a volume of 7,305 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has declined by 48.8 percentage points (from 70.0% in 2024-12).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 15.0% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 36.2% of all new car sales in Ireland for this period.
