EV Market Share: Ireland

In September 2026, the automotive market in Ireland recorded a total of 6,320 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 49.3% of the market share. This represents a volume of 3,114 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 21.4 percentage points(from 27.9% in 2025-08).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 16.8% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 66.0% of all new car sales in Ireland for this period.
