EV Market Share: Germany

In August 2026, the automotive market in Germany recorded a total of 163,505 new registrations. The adoption of electric vehicles continues to evolve, with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) capturing 42.2% of the market share. This represents a volume of 68,930 full-electric cars registered this month.

Compared to the same period last year, the BEV market share has grown by 17.6 percentage points (from 24.6% in 2025-08).

Looking at the broader picture, Plug-in Hybrids (PHEV) achieved a 15.5% share. Combined, plug-in vehicles (BEV + PHEV) account for 57.7% of all new car sales in Germany for this period.
